Epping Ongar Steam Railway (Pic) - During the season steam train whistles from the Epping Ongar Railway can be routinely heard outside the Great Barn. One ticket provides all day access to delightful old buses and trains. Go early and don't waste the day. Refreshments are available on the railway and there is a busy pub close to North Weald Station called the Kings Head. Real ale, of course!

Shopping - Try Chelmsford - A thriving and rejuvenated town centre with a new John Lewis and, of course, many eating places. Also shopping malls at Westfield at Stratford, Lakeside (on the Thames Estuary!) and Bluewater across the Thames in Kent. ... See MoreSee Less
