Greensted Church, Ongar

St. Andrews Church, Greensted, is the oldest wooden Church in the World, and the oldest ‘Stave Built’ timber building in Europe, with 51 timbers dating back to around 1060. The Church is open daily, from 10am-4pm during the winter and until approximately 6pm in the summer. Guided tours can be arranged for groups most days, subject to availability of a trained guide.
